First Post

Hmmm... Well, I never thought I would be doing this. My roommate from college, Patrick, mentioned the idea to me quite some time ago; but I didn't think I would like doing it. I suppose we shall see. So, now what? What do I say? hmmm... Well, how about some random facts about me... that's always a good "ice-breaker". Of course, it is usually of more use in a conversational setting. Oh, and by the way, I will probably do this in a quasi "stream of thought" manner. So, if you don't like it, ain't nobody forcin' you to read it! haha, I keed, I keed...
Okay, random things about me... Well, I love mathematics. It has a certain elegance that nothing else could hope to achieve. It's the underpinning of ALL of the physical sciences. And as much as some chemists would like to believe to the contrary, they too would be lost without it. In addition to mathematics, I have a great affection for the sciences. Although, I don't count myself good at any of them, I certainly find them all fascinating. I find that the more I learn about the sciences, the more I realize how little I understand about God's many wonders. He has created an amazing universe, and I believe that Math & Science are the means by which He has given us to make our attempt, however feeble, to understand said universe. I certainly don't mean to imply that we could ever understand His intentions through math & science, merely that we may gain understanding of His creations. In that process, one finds himself truly in awe of what he discovers. But I digress... I also rather enjoy painting miniature models, although I don't get a chance to do it that much anymore. And I have a love for Tae Kwon Do, a Korean martial art. Some of my other hobbies include computer programming, video games, reading, and just being a technology geek. Well, I'm running out of time to write, but I hope to repost on a regular basis. Also, I want to do something a little unique with my BLOG. I'm going to post little math facts at least once per week. So, here's the first, sort of...
Well, because I'm a nerd, I've memorized Pi and e to 20 decimal places. Why? you ask. Well, I once read that Euler, one of the greatest mathematicians the world has ever known, could perform computations with e and Pi in his head to 30 decimal places. 30 decimal places!!! So, I just thought it would be cool to at least learn the numbers as a mental exercise. Anyway, I hope to be posting more soon. Have a great day!

Katherine asked me to post this since she doesn't have a blogger account and doesn't want one quite frankly:

"The fact that you have memorized Pi to 20 decimal places and didn't include it in your blog to prove said claim is just rude."
